At the gate of the city, Jesus encounters a grieving widow whose only son has died. Without being asked, he steps into her sorrow, halts the funeral procession, and brings life where there was only loss. The crowd proclaims, “God has come to help his people!” As we approach Lent, this story reminds us that Jesus meets us in our grief with compassion and restores life in ways we never expect. It is an Epiphany revelation – and a doorway into the hope we carry into the Lenten journey.
